Thomas C. Wargel, AFM - Manager-Broker

Expertise. Integrity. Personal Service.

Black Prairie Ag Services, Inc., is a full-service farm management, real estate and consulting company of strong repute: offering honesty and integrity along with a high level of ag and management expertise. Add to that personal service, and client needs will be more than met.

The company's tone is set by Owner Thomas C. Wargel, who launched Black Prairie Ag Services, Inc., in 2002. Black Prairie Ag now serves clients throughout the United States, specializing in the management and sale of Central and Southern Illinois farmland.

 "As a farm manager, I work to meet clients' goals for their individual property, which often involves maximizing farm income while preserving farm assets. I also try to educate my clients on industry trends and keep them abreast of what their farm operator and manager are doing for them on their farm." ~ Thomas Wargel, AFM

Thomas Wargel

Thomas was raised on a Southern Illinois grain and livestock farm, and since 1990 has devoted his career exclusively to farm management and farm real estate brokerage. He has productively managed farmland for hundreds of clients, evaluated and negotiated numerous leases, consulted on a variety of special projects, and helped guide the successful sale of thousands of acres of farmland.

Black Prairie Ag's owner holds a B.S. in Agriculture from the University of Illinois. He became a licensed real estate broker in 2002, having served as a licensed real estate salesman since 1991. He has maintained his status as an Accredited Farm Manager, recognized by the American Society of Farm Managers and Rural Appraisers, since receiving the designation in 1995.

For clients of Black Prairie Ag, agricultural expertise, integrity and personal service have become more than a wish;

they're something to count on.

Kinser Wargel

Kinser Wargel is Black Prairie Ag’s newest team member, farm manager, and real estate broker. Kinser grew up in Central Illinois amid DeWitt County’s productive farmland, raising sweetcorn and tending chickens as he earned his Illinois and American FFA degrees. Upon graduating from Clinton High School, he attended the University of Illinois, earning a B.S. in Agricultural Business and attaining his real estate brokerage license while still an undergraduate.

From high school through college, Kinser maximized summer internships to experience agriculture from many angles—working as a research assistant at Valent U.S.A.’s Midwest Agricultural Research Center, Seymour, IL, as a laborer and equipment operator at Harbrand Farms, Clinton, IL, and helping farmers interpret and apply digital aerial data at IntelinAir, Champaign, IL. During the pandemic, he traveled throughout the Midwest solo collecting in-field weed data for baseline development of John Deere’s See & Spray technology.

His degree in hand, Kinser first worked as a farm manager and broker for Field Level Ag of Springfield, Illinois. During this time, he completed the Springfield, IL, Chamber of Commerce Leadership Springfield program, interacting with community leaders and decision makers for exposure to diverse business perspectives, accomplishments, and opportunities. He currently serves on the board of the Land of Lincoln Goodwill Industries. As Kinser joins Black Prairie Ag, he continues working to earn the status of Accredited Farm Manager through the American Society of Farm Managers and Rural Appraisers.
